Cynthia Marshall, was named interim CEO of the Dallas Mavericks on Monday. In the wake of a scathing Sports Illustrated investigation exposing the basketball organization’s culture of sexual harassment against women described as “a picture of a corporate culture rife with misogyny and predatory sexual behavior,” the change is about to give a whole new meaning to the idea of March Madness.⠀

Meeting with the Mavericks for the first time this morning, she laid out a plan for the next month. It includes completing the internal investigation already launched by Mavericks owner Mark Cuban; personally meeting with each of the organization’s 141 employees; and formalizing a detailed process for transforming the organization’s dysfunctional culture and refining its operational effectiveness, with an emphasis on all systems and policies related to reporting and addressing employee complaints.⠀
“We are committed to running a business of excellence,” said Marshall, in an exclusive phone interview with Black Enterprise. “Clearly we have work to do, and I walk in knowing that there’s a lot that I don’t know. But I do know how to lead, and how to effect necessary change in an organization.”⠀
During the news conference announcing her hire as the Mavericks' CEO, Cynthia Marshall identifies three areas of emphasis: the investigation, cultural transformation and operational effectiveness. "We are determined to come out better because of this," Marshall said.

Could Condoleezza Rice Be The Cleveland Browns Next Head Coach
The Browns released a statement after reports circulated that former Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice, could potentially be the franchises next head coach.
According to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Cleaveland Browns are interested in interviewing former Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice, for their head coaching job.
An avid Browns supporter, Rice’s experience in professional athletics has been largely limited to the collegiate level, serving on the College Football Playoff Selection committee until her term on the board ended.
If Condoleeza Rice where to be selected she would be the first woman head coach in the NFL.

Following the surfacing of this report, The Browns swiftly released a press statement stating that “we are still in the process of composing the list of candidates and Secretary Rice has not been discussed“.
Condoleezza Rice also released a statement via. Facebook
“I love my Browns — and I know they will hire an experienced coach to take us to the next level.
On a more serious note, I do hope that the NFL will start to bring women into the coaching profession as position coaches and eventually coordinators and head coaches. One doesn’t have to play the game to understand it and motivate players. But experience counts — and it is time to develop a pool of experienced women coaches.
BTW — I’m not ready to coach but I would like to call a play or two next season if the Browns need ideas! And at no time will I call for a “prevent defense.”
Timberwolves Debut Their City Edition Jerseys Inspired By Prince.
The Minnesota Timberwolves pay homage to Prince in their new NBA uniforms.
Last month we reported about the NBA City Edition jerseys being produced this year. Every NBA team has created a special jersey that signifies the history and culture of each teams city.
The Minnesota Timberwolves debuted their City Edition jerseys last night and they were an homage to none other than the late Grammy-award winning recording artist, Prince. The music Legend was born in Minnesota and his legacy lives on through the city in various landmarks and annual concerts. The Minnesota Timberwolves City Edition jerseys are a play on Prince’s 1984 Album and Film “Purple Rain”.
When the look went on sale on Nov. 8, it was the largest grossing day at retail in team history.

Kevin Garnett was in attendance wearing a custom City Edition Timberwolves jersey.
The Timberwolves ended up beating the Trailblazers 112-96 last night. It’s awesome to see a big organization like the NBA pay homage to African American cultural icons, especially ones that have made a major impact in America.
Prince would be proud.
