Syko, Producer of Mac Dre’s ‘Thizzle Dance’ Is Reported Dead

The Seattle rapper and producer best known for producing for Bay Area’s, Mac Dre, was killed in a car accident on Friday

Theophilus Adams, the Seattle recording artist and producer better known as “Syko” was reportedly killed in a car accident on Friday, November 16th. Syko was best known for his musical contribution to California’s Bay Area Hyphy movement and producing iconic Mac Dre tracks such as “Thizzle Dance” and “Boss Tycoon”.

Family, friends, and fans mourning the loss of producer Syko confirmed the news by posting a KOMO News article on their social media accounts.

The article revealed that an unnamed man had crashed in Everett, Washington Friday.

The Snohomish County medical examiner’s office confirmed the death to KQED, and one of Syko’s close friends, Darryl Reese, confirmed that Syko did pass away.

Syko helped create the Bay Area’s Hyphy with bass-heavy production matched with uptempo but deeply relaxed rhythms.

His production on “Thizzle Dance” jumpstarted a dance craze in the early 2,000’s.

Recording artist, Drake, was even seen trying to do the Thizzle dance during his Sumer 16 tour stop in Oakland in 2016.

“If I can make Drake dance on stage to my shit, I know I got some more work to do.” -Syko (Instagram)

Syko was a champion for the youth, an advocate for other producers and underground producers.

Unfortunately like many creatives, Syko failed to receive proper credit for some of his contributions. He had more contributions to Hip-Hop culture on the way before the tragic accident.

Theophilus Adams was a tremendous father to his 8-year old son and 14-year old daughter. He is survived by his mother and father. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.
